Epoxy River Coasters — Build Plan (#23)
The river look in a set of four coasters — built the production way. The secret is the strip method: don't pour four fussy little molds; pour ONE 18 in river strip from a wavy-split walnut board, then slice it into four coasters, so the river flows continuously through the whole set and the four pieces visibly belong together. This 5-page PDF plan (Build Plan No. 23 in the Fox Feather Farms winter series) makes a set of four 4 x 4 in (10 cm) coasters, 1/2 in thick, at only about 180 ml of epoxy per set — roughly one-fifth of a river board's pour — and it is a perfect use for walnut offcuts.
Inside: a layout diagram of the strip before slicing, a complete cut list, the epoxy math, a full materials list with per-line costs in Canadian dollars (about $28 typical per set), the tools required, finishes and cure times, and a 6-step build summary. Seal-coating the wavy edges first is flagged as the fix for the most common coaster defect, the epoxy is specified heat-rated, and the care card still says it plainly: not a trivet — no hot pots or pans. A walnut holder builds from offcuts as the deluxe set's base, and the same strip corner-rounded makes a round variant. About 1.5–2 hours of active work per set (about 45 minutes per set batched), across a 3–4 day elapsed cycle.
